Srinagar, Oct 28 (KNO): The construction work of a 100-bedded In-Patient Department (IPD) block at District Hospital Kishtwar will be completed in the financial year 2026-27, Jammu and Kashmir government said on Tuesday. Replying to a question of MLA Shagun Parihar, the Health and Medical Education Department Minister, Sakina Itoo, as per the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), said that the work namely “Construction of Additional 100-bedded IPD Block at District Hospital Kishtwar”, was taken up for execution by JKPCC at an approved cost of Rs 1554.00 lacs with amount sanctioned under Prime Minister Development Package (PMDP) as Rs 1154.00 lacs. “At the time of handing over of the project by JKPCC to PW(R&B) during 2023-24, an aggregate expenditure of Rs 670.00 lacs had been incurred by the agency on the project components, with physical completion of 50% work,” she said. “Post re-organization of PWD, the project was shifted to PWD from JKPCC and the balance funding was sourced through UT Capex Budget in the year 2024-25, an expenditure of Rs 15.71 lacs was incurred by PW(R&B) for clearing the work done liability thereby aggregating the expenditure ending 3/2025 to Rs 685.71 lacs. During the current financial year, an amount of Rs 150.00 lacs has also been approved under Capex Budget and 50% funds, amounting to Rs 75.00 lacs have been transferred to the executing agency,” she said. It is to mention that the work remained held up due to a court case in 2024-25. Now, the court case has been resolved in the current financial year and the agency has started the tendering process. “The Executive agency has re-tendered the pending civil works which shall be opened for technical bid on 01.11.2025. Further, the Executive agency has committed that the project will be completed in the financial year 2026-27 for which the requisite funding shall be projected under BE 2026-27,” she said. Sakina added that 29 posts including 15 consultants, five medical officers and nine specialists under NHM are lying vacant. “The vacant posts of doctors have been referred to the recruiting agencies for recruitment and will be filled up as soon as the selection panel is received by the department. Efforts are being made to address staffing gaps through recruitment and contractual engagements." Sakina added further—(KNO)
